Fluidity
//Acrylics on Canvas with Digital Manipulation
Having learnt dance from the age of 4, it has always been a major part of my life. I have learnt contemporary for a majority of this time and what I have grown to love most about this dance form is the fluidity and grace in each movement. As an ode to its beauty, I have represented these characteristics through this piece. I first painted a frilled skirt worn by a contemporary dancer that I thought beautifully captured the flow of contemporary movements: projecting the active unfolding of a story, a feeling, a mood in the folds of its fabric. I then scanned it to create a digital pattern that emphasized its fluid nature. Free-flowing white lines have been digitally added to accentuate its form.
